The Chester County Pops Orchestra
announces its Summer 2008 Concert Series. On Friday,
July 18 the orchestra will perform in Longwood
Gardens at 7:30 p.m. Three consecutive Sunday
afternoon performances will be given at Oxford
Area High School on July 13, East High School
in West Chester on July 20 and Phoenixville Area
High School on July 27. Each Sunday concert will
begin at 3 p.m.
Titled Your Passport to the
Pops, the program presents Pops music with an
international flavor. Pops and light favorites
from England, Norway, Italy, Spain and Austria
will be featured. Irish Favorites will be performed
by the new group, Celtic Trinity. American works
include selections from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s
The King and I featuring soprano soloist, Tina
Garrity, and renowned arranger Bill Holcombe’s
Hooray for Hollywood.
The Chesco Pops, under the
direction of Jacques Voois, was founded in 2005.
Its motto is “Bringing melody to life in
Chester County.” To date, the Pops has played
18 concerts in more than a dozen venues throughout
the county.
All concerts are family-oriented.
Tickets for the high school venues will be available
at the door. Prices are: adults and seniors $10;
students $5; children 12 and under, free. Regular
Longwood Gardens admission rates apply for the
July 18 concert.
